Yes, the G9 LED is a direct replacement for the G9 halogen bulb. You don’t need a transformer or LED driver (see section 6). So there you have it, changing to this LED is the easiest thing in the world.

G9 bulbs operate in the same way as almost all other halogen bulbs.  The average 20-watt G9 bulb provides a 170 initial lumen output, while 40-watt bulbs offer about a 600 initial lumen output, and 60-watt bulbs provide an 830 initial lumen output.

Rated at only 28w each, these G9 bulbs will produce nearly the same amount of light as as a normal 40w lamp. Most 40w G9 bulbs will produce approximately 12 lumens (the measure of light) per watt of power used (480 lumens), but these energy saving 28w versions will produce about 13.2 lumens per watt (370 lumens).
